Bet Types: Singles, Parlays, Handicaps and Totals

Every sportsbook offers the same core bet types under slightly different names. Understanding them is the difference between choosing a bet and being sold one. This guide explains each of the main bet types with simple peso examples at decimal odds: singles, accumulators (parlays), system bets, handicaps, totals and a few specialist bets. If a sportsbook is available on your Bigbunny account, its bet slip will offer these combinations; the operator's sportsbook rules decide how each is settled.

Single

A single is one bet on one outcome. A ₱200 single at 1.80 returns ₱360 if it wins — ₱160 profit — and loses ₱200 if it does not. Singles are the easiest to track and the cheapest in margin, because you pay the bookmaker's edge once. Most disciplined bettors place mainly singles.

Accumulator (parlay)

An accumulator, called a parlay in many sportsbooks, links several selections; the odds multiply and every leg must win. Three legs at 1.80 each give combined odds of about 5.83, so ₱200 would return about ₱1,166. The catch is probability: if each leg had a 50% real chance, all three winning would have a 12.5% chance, and the margin multiplies too. Accumulators are entertainment with long odds, not a smarter way to bet.

System bets

A system bet places several accumulators at once from a set of selections, so you can still collect if one or two legs lose. A "2 from 3" system, for example, is three doubles. Your stake is multiplied by the number of combinations — three doubles at ₱100 each cost ₱300 — so a system bet is more expensive than it looks on the slip.

Handicap and Asian handicap

A handicap gives one side a head start or deficit. In a European handicap a draw on the handicap is a separate outcome. An Asian handicap removes the draw: on a −1 line your team must win by two for a full win, and a one-goal win returns your stake; on quarter lines such as −0.75 your stake is split between two lines, so half can win while half is returned or lost. Handicaps turn uneven matches into closer prices.

Over/under totals

Totals bet on a number — goals, points, games, runs — being over or under a line. With a line of 2.5 goals, three or more is over and two or fewer is under. Half-point lines prevent a push; whole-number lines return the stake if the total lands exactly on the line.

Each-way, outrights and specials

Outright bets are on the winner of a whole competition, settled at the end. Each-way bets, common in racing and golf, split the stake between a win bet and a place bet. Specials and "bet builder" combinations within one match are priced with higher margins, because the bookmaker carries more uncertainty. Read the settlement rules for each.

The rule behind every bet type

Whatever the type, the bookmaker builds a margin into the price, and complex bets carry more of it. Keep to a fixed stake per bet in pesos, favor singles, and treat parlays and systems as occasional fun.
